PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1) The Singles League will follow all rules and regulations of the LCTA Regulations for the Spring 2011 League Tennis Season except as outlined below.
2) Format
a) There will be five levels for men and women (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5).
b) At the 2.5-4.5 levels, a match will consist of three courts of singles.
c) All matches will be the best of three sets with a match tiebreaker (first to 10 points with a margin of at least 2 points) being played in lieu of a third set. If a set tiebreak is needed, all adult matches in the LCTA will use the Coman Tiebreak Procedure.
d) Playing up – At the 2.5 through 4.5 levels, each team must have at least three members rated at the level they are playing. A player may not play below his or her level.
3) Season
a) For 2.5 through 4.5, matches will be scheduled to be played on Sunday afternoons at 1:00, 2:30, and 4:00. Which levels play at which times will be determined after registration when we have a better understanding of the number of teams participating at each level.
b) Captains are strongly encouraged to communicate in order to come up with a mutually agreeable time to play at some time during the week preceding the scheduled time. Preferably this will be done by email and the league coordinator must be included in the communication. Once the new time is agreed upon by both captains that is the new scheduled time for the match. The 15 minute team default rule will apply to the new time. If a mutually agreeable time cannot be reached, then the match will be played as scheduled on Sunday afternoon.
c) The home captains for the 2.5-4.5 levels will be responsible for reserving their home courts.
d) Registration will start July 1 and end July 31 of 2011.
e) Match play will start tentatively on August 14 and will extend to on or about October 30.
4) Playoffs
a) There will be no local playoffs if there is only one flight at a given level. If there are multiple flights, playoffs will follow the same format as listed in the Spring 2011 LCTA Adult rules.
b) State playoffs will be Nov 19 and 20 with possible play on Friday the 18th.
5) Awards
a) The players on the winning team will receive an award
6) Fees
a) Each player will pay a $12 fee, which includes the $3 TennisLink fee.
