LOWCOUNTRY TENNIS ASSOCIATION - NEWS

WHAT'S NEW? The LCTA has recently adopted a new rule all players need to be aware of! All league play will now require a 3rd set, 10-point match tiebreak in lieu of a full third set. Looking for spring regulations or other information about the upcoming spring season? Visit our SPRING LEAGUE page!

COMING IN 2013:  The USTA is changing its league structure beginning in 2013 and the changes are fairly significant, especially regarding the restructuring of age groups.  To see the changes coming and for additional information, click HERE.

LOCAL NEWS:  The Charleston Parks Conservancy is working with a group of dedicated members of the Maybank Tennis Center to upgrade the basic renovation plans. The City has designed a plan to renovate the existing facilities with some additions to improve the number of courts and quality amenities! The committee is hard at work to raise funds to make Maybank a premier tennis center. The “wish list” for Maybank center is best seen in the design below. Your help can make all of this a reality! Please contact Amy Jenkins, Director of Development, Charleston Parks Conservancy at ajenkins@charlestonparksconservancy.org for more information or to donate toward this effort.

FAST FACT:  USTA membership in the nine USTA Southern states is at an all-time high with 185,332 members, a quarter of the USTA total.  South Carolina is up slightly from last year with 24,318 members.  We are third in the Section, behind Georgia and North Carolina, in total membership, and second only to Georgia in membership density with 533 USTA members per 100,000 residents.
